NetHope is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Communications Manager to develop and execute compelling, multi-channel communication strategies that amplify the organization’s mission and impact. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this full-time, remote position plays a pivotal role in crafting engaging content, managing digital campaigns, and building audiences across key stakeholder groups, including members, partners, funders, and the broader global development sector.

Role Overview

The Communications Manager is responsible for content development, campaign execution, digital marketing, project management, and internal coordination. This hands-on role requires a creative and results-driven communicator who excels at translating complex programmatic work into digestible, action-oriented messaging. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of nonprofit communications, excellent writing and editing skills, a keen eye for audience engagement, and experience managing digital tools in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Audience Engagement & Digital Marketing (40%) – The manager will develop and execute digital marketing strategies across email, web, social media, and paid media to grow audience reach and engagement. Responsibilities include managing NetHope’s social media presence, implementing SEO strategies, optimizing performance with analytics and A/B testing, and leading communications campaigns for key events such as the NetHope Global Summit and webinar series. The role also includes oversight of promotional content, paid advertising, and Google Ad Grant coordination.

Content Creation & Visual Design (25%) – This role requires writing clear, compelling content for blogs, newsletters, social media, case studies, and other outreach materials. The manager will use tools like Canva for basic visual asset creation and oversee larger design projects in collaboration with consultants. They will also maintain up-to-date web content and collaborate with stakeholders to collect and share stories of impact.

Project Management & Coordination (25%) – Acting as the central point of contact for internal communications needs, the manager will coordinate timelines, priorities, and approvals across teams using tools such as Asana. Responsibilities include maintaining the editorial calendar, managing asset libraries, overseeing toolkits and templates, and supporting the Director of Communications with consultant projects and strategic initiatives.

Strategic Support & Systems Management (10%) – The Communications Manager will assist in maintaining clean CRM lists, collaborate on communications strategy development, manage inbound communications, and help assess tools, systems, and templates for long-term efficiency. Staying current on nonprofit marketing trends and bringing innovative ideas to enhance visibility and audience resonance are also key expectations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator with 4–6 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, ideally within the nonprofit or humanitarian sectors. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated success in audience engagement, and a background in digital strategy are essential. Proficiency with tools such as Campaign Monitor, Salesforce, Metricool, Canva, Asana, and Google Analytics is highly valued. Experience with webinar platforms, content management systems (WordPress), and visual editing software (Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.

Personal Attributes

NetHope seeks a passionate and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-moving, global environment. Ideal traits include cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, high attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative mindset. The successful candidate is proactive, solutions-oriented, and committed to continuous learning and process improvement. A strong relationship builder, the manager should be capable of navigating complex internal dynamics with clarity, empathy, and strategic focus.

Working Conditions

This is a fully remote position, requiring a reliable internet connection and flexibility to work across global time zones. Occasional travel may be required for NetHope events (1–2 annually). NetHope offers competitive, equitable salaries benchmarked to local markets, with benefits packages governed by country-specific regulations and internal policies.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit their application and cover letter no later than September 3, 2025. A portfolio showcasing relevant communications work is highly encouraged. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with early submissions strongly recommended.
