Operating at the intersection of leadership, strategy, and storytelling, the Head of Internal Communications will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, while driving alignment between internal communications, enterprise goals, and external narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Design and execute a robust internal communications strategy for the Europe & India region, closely aligned with AECOM’s growth objectives, global positioning, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Shape a future-ready communications model that supports both regional nuances and global campaigns.
- Define and monitor KPIs and engagement metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Executive Counsel and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key communications advisor to the regional Executive Team, offering strategic insight on messaging, engagement, and reputation management.
- Build effective partnerships with senior stakeholders across business lines, functions, and geographies to ensure consistent, impactful, and trusted communication.
- Elevate leadership visibility through structured engagement programs, coaching, and executive communication support.
Change and Crisis Communications
- Lead internal crisis communications across the region, in collaboration with legal, HR, and operations teams to ensure transparency, continuity, and trust.
- Develop and implement communication plans for business change, transformation, and integration initiatives, ensuring clarity, speed, and empathy.
Integration with Marketing and Enterprise Communications
- Collaborate with global marketing and enterprise communications colleagues to ensure alignment of messaging and tone across all channels and regions.
- Champion the employee voice within the regional marketing and communications leadership team, bringing internal perspectives to strategic planning.
- Leverage external insights to inform and enrich internal storytelling, fostering a deeper connection between employees and AECOM’s market ambitions.
Content Strategy and Delivery
- Oversee the development of inclusive, outcome-driven, and audience-focused content that reflects AECOM’s values, strategy, and culture.
- Work closely with creative and content teams to optimize messaging across digital platforms and communication channels.
- Ensure internal communications are compelling, culturally relevant, and consistent with the organization’s brand identity.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills and Experience
- Significant experience leading internal communications in a complex, matrixed, and global organization.
- Proven success advising senior leaders and navigating high-stakes scenarios, including crisis and transformation communications.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management capabilities; able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead geographically dispersed teams and inspire performance and engagement.
- Deep understanding of internal communications metrics, stakeholder analysis, and change management frameworks.
- Experience working across diverse cultural and geographic contexts, particularly within European and Indian business environments.
